The film makes it barely possible to suppose that everyone from Yavin was killed and there were no survivors on the captured Rebel vessel that had visited the Rebel Base, but even so it makes the Empire's subsequent difficulties in finding Rebel HQ seem less like clever organization and more like spectacularly bad luck - or utter incompetence in Imperial intelligence. For this and other reasons I privately consider this more of a Star Wars Fan Fiction than an official movie.

Nitpicks aside, I enjoy the movie very much. It gives the Empire something of the feel of a Latin American Dictatorship rather than the Mongo (from Flash Gordon) that shows up in the original movies. It's an interesting perspective that I had not considered, but it works surprisingly well.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7201660899514011402.post-37841645276707443822019-09-10T09:11:52.061-05:002019-09-10T09:11:52.061-05:00Agree. I haven't even seen the latest one because I read how they misused the Luke character.War Movie Buffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05999735218343872013noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7201660899514011402.post-64231766602949409442019-09-05T12:46:17.833-05:002019-09-05T12:46:17.833-05:00I gotta admit; I have actually enjoyed it out of a...I gotta admit; I have actually enjoyed it out of all the Star Wars sequel trilogy, far better then Force Awakens and Last Jedi.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7201660899514011402.post-73475264150544101172018-02-11T19:22:47.219-06:002018-02-11T19:22:47.219-06:00Reminds me of the Guns of Navarone.Reminds me of the Guns of Navarone.Tomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02769995285696676036noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7201660899514011402.post-80704587482543471532017-04-20T07:12:44.401-05:002017-04-20T07:12:44.401-05:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.Lewis Clarkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05470410316942686555noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7201660899514011402.post-78925720474602121702017-01-30T20:09:19.950-06:002017-01-30T20:09:19.950-06:00Nice review, close to my own reaction. As the urgency of the last act built, reminded me of late 60s war films, which isn't something I expected to be associated with the Star Wars franchise at this late date.Erik Weemshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07040816703122764243noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7201660899514011402.post-80084106924877419192017-01-08T09:02:48.553-06:002017-01-08T09:02:48.553-06:00Stumbled into your blog after watching Patton with...Stumbled into your blog after watching Patton with history major son; each time he comes home, we watch and analyze a history movie. Really appreciating a war movie Rogue One review. I'd have taken off a few points due to super sloppy Empire data storage. They fail to recognize the obvious War Movie tropes and clichés that permeate Rogue One. It's all done with a sense of fun.André7https://www.blogger.com/profile/04529840090218454738noreply@blogger.com
