Day”) in just eight months. It was shot
in Spain, even though the terrain did not match the Ardennes Forest, because
Francisco Franco made the producers a deal they could not refuse. In spite of the savings, the movie did not
make a profit. It was filmed in the new
Ultra Panavision 70 and shown in 70mm Cinerama theaters. It premiered on the 21st
anniversary of the start of the battle – Dec. 16, 1965. The movie covers just the first 50 hours of
the battle. There are no actual
historical figures in the movie.
